type='text'>It's called Mindset!!

It's called Mindset!!
As my friend was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from the ropes they were tied to but for some reason, they did not. My friend saw a trainer nearby and asked why these beautiful, magnificent animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away.

"Well," he said, "when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it's enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free." My friend was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn't, they were stuck right where they were.

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before? So make an attempt to grow further.... Why shouldn't we try it again?

"YOUR ATTEMPT MAY FAIL, BUT NEVER FAIL TO MAKE AN ATTEMPT."

Where to Find port numbers for well-known services defined by IANA

Port Numbers and Protocols for well-known services defined by IANA
If we want to know the Port Numbers and Protocols used by Well known services defind by IANA on Our Machine,we can check this out as follows,

Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.
Find the File named "Services".Type of file is "File".
We can open this file in Notepad, wordpad, etc.
This file shows all details in following format,
Format:
<service><port><protocol><aliases>
Service Name Port Number/Protocol aliases Comments
ms-sql-s 1433/tcp -- #Microsoft-SQL-Server
ms-sql-s 1433/udp -- #Microsoft-SQL-Server

How to change the Default Port of MySQL Server

Default Port for MySQL Server is 3306.
We can change this Default port to any Port we want.
Please follow the following steps for the Same.
1. Find the "my.ini" file at following location,
C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\my.ini
2. Search for "port=3306" in my.ini file.
3. There are two instances of "port=3306".
4. change the value to say "port=3309" in both the occurances of Port.
5. Save the "my.ini" file.
6. Open "Run" and Enter "Services.msc" in it.Hit Enter.
7. Restart "MYSQL" services from Services screen.
8. Now check the changed port by logging in to MYSQL Server where you need to enter "port" as "3309".
Note:- Restarting of MySQL service is mandatory.

Tester Vs Developer

How Roshan D'Mello (QA Tester) frustrates developer (Mukesh Thakur)
Roshan D'Mello: Hey Mukesh, there is a bug in your code. Type a text in user name text box and press enter. Beep sound doesn't appear.
Mukesh Thakur: How can that be a bug? There is no requirement that beep sound should come. Anyway, I will assign it to offshore and get it fixed.
After 2 days,
Mukesh Thakur: Roshan, bug is fixed. Please verify.
After another 2 days,
Roshan D'Mello: I have re-opened the bug because sound is not coming in some PCs. Sound is coming in my machine, but my colleague Rajat Choudhry is not getting the sound.
After another 2 days,
Mukesh Thakur: Not a bug. I observed that your friend Rajat Choudhry has old IBM machine. Unlike your DELL machine, IBM machines do not have inbuilt speakers. So, to hear the sound in Rajat Choudhry's machine, please use head phones and then get the bug closed soon.
Another 2 days,
Roshan D'Mello: I have re-opened the bug because sound tone is different across different machines. Sound is coming as 'BEEP' in my machine, but my colleague Rajat Choudhry who is having IBM machine is getting the sound as 'TONG'.
Mukesh Thakur: Not a bug. Get lost man. What can we do for the bug? The two machines are built in such a way that they produce different sounds. Do you expect the developers to rebuild the IBM processors to make them uniform? Please close it.
Another 2 days,
Roshan D'Mello: I have re-opened the bug because intensity of beep sound produced on 2 different DELL machines is different. My machine produces beep sound of intensity 10 decibels whereas my friend's machine produces sound worth 20 decibels. Fix your code to make the sound uniform across all machines.
Another 2 days later,
Mukesh Thakur: Once again it is not a bug. I have noticed that the volume set is different on the two machines. Ensure that volume is same in both the machines before I get mad and then close the bug.
Another 2 days,
Roshan D'Mello: I have re-opened the bug.
Mukesh Thakur: What ?? Why? What more stupid reasons can be there for re-opening?
Roshan D'Mello: Sound intensity is different for machines placed at different locations (different buildings). So, I have re-opened it.
After 2 days,
Mukesh Thakur: I have made some scientists do an acoustical analysis of the two buildings you used for testing. They have observed that the acoustics in the two buildings varies to a large extent. That is why sound intensity is different across the 2 buildings. So, I beg you to please close the bugs.
After 1 year
Roshan D'Mello: I am re-opeing the bug. During the year, I requested the clients to arrange architects to build two buildings with same acoustical features, so that I can test it again. Now, when I tested, I found that intensity of sound still varying. So, I am re-opening the defect.
Mukesh Thakur: GROWLLLL.....I am really mad now. I am sure that the sound waves of the two buildings are getting distorted due to some background noice or something. Now I need to waste time to prove that it is because of background noice.
Roshan D'Mello: No need for that. We will put the machines and run them in vacuum and see. Mukesh Thakur: (not alive)

Some Funny Pics

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319987603368855698" style="FLOAT: left; Data Getting corrupt stored in Pendrive since this is Fake pendrive.
2. Size of Pen Drive shown as 32 GB but actually data not getting copied correctly.
3. Folders containg Folders and files not getting saved corretly on the Pen Stick.

Solution:-
Actually the issue is with Size of Pen Drive.
Even if it is shown as 32 GB on System, actually data saved more than 1 GB or 2 GB was getting corrupt.
There is one solution to this issue.
1. Download mkdosfs utility from "http://www1.mager.org/mkdosfs/".
2. Type the following command on cmd,
mkdosfs -v -f 32 -n CLEAN1GB H: 2060000
3. Check the Pen Drive Size now. It should be 1 GB. (0.97 GB)
4. Copy the files ,folders, media files etc. in Pen Drive.
5. Check the feasibility of Pen Drive for Use.

After following mentioned step i recovery a 32 GB PenDrive has only 1 GB Size and it can be used without any issues.
You can use some tools available at http://www1.mager.org/mkdosfs/
(Really thankful to creator of above mentioned Web Page which contains the remedy for Fake Pen sticks).
Start using your waste,Fake pen Drive and Enjoy......................

Types of Testing

Types of Testing
Following are the types of testing since all metioned are the Quality Dimensions for any Software as mentioned in Rational Unified Process,
1. But most of the developers oversee that and testing phase is generally neglected. As a consequence, erroneous software is released. The testing team should be involved right from the requirements stage itself.
The various phases involved in testing, with regard to the software development life cycle are:
1. Requirements stage
2. Test Plan
3. Test Design.
4. Design Reviews
5. Code Reviews
6. Test Cases preparation.
7. Test Execution
8. Test Reports.
9. Bugs Reporting
10. Reworking on patches.
11. Release to production.
Requirements Stage:
Normally in many companies, developers itself take part in the requirements stage. Especially for product-based companies, a tester should also be involved in this stage. Since a tester thinks from the user side whereas a developer can’t. A separate panel should be formed for each module comprising a developer, a tester and a user. Panel meetings should be scheduled in order to gather everyone’s view. All the requirements should be documented properly for further use and this document is called “Software Requirements Specifications”.
Test Plan:
Without a good plan, no work is a success. A successful work always contains a good plan. The testing process of software should also require good plan. Test plan document is the most important document that brings in a process – oriented approach. A test plan document should be prepared after the requirements of the project are confirmed. The test plan document must consist of the following information: • Total number of features to be tested. • Testing approaches to be followed. • The testing methodologies • Number of man-hours required. • Resources required for the whole testing process. • The testing tools that are to be used. • The test cases, etc
Test Design:
Test Design is done based on the requirements of the project. Test has to be designed based on whether manual or automated testing is done. For automation testing, the different paths for testing are to be identified first. An end to end checklist has to be prepared covering all the features of the project. The test design is represented pictographically. The test design involves various stages. These stages can be summarized as follows: • The different modules of the software are identified first. • Next, the paths connecting all the modules are identified. Then the design is drawn. The test design is the most critical one, which decides the test case preparation. So the test design assesses the quality of testing process.
Test Cases Preparation:
Test cases should be prepared based on the following scenarios: • Positive scenarios • Negative scenarios • Boundary conditions and • Real World scenarios
Design Reviews:
The software design is done in systematical manner or using the UML language. The tester can do the reviews over the design and can suggest the ideas and the modifications needed.
Code Reviews:
Code reviews are similar to unit testing. Once the code is ready for release, the tester should be ready to do unit testing for the code. He must be ready with his own unit test cases. Though a developer does the unit testing, a tester must also do it. The developers may oversee some of the minute mistakes in the code, which a tester may find out.
Test Execution and Bugs Reporting:
Once the unit testing is completed and the code is released to QA, the functional testing is done. A top-level testing is done at the beginning of the testing to find out the top-level failures. If any top-level failures occur, the bugs should be reported to the developer immediately to get the required workaround. The test reports should be documented properly and the bugs have to be reported to the developer after the testing is completed.
Release to Production:
Once the bugs are fixed, another release is given to the QA with the modified changes. Regression testing is executed. Once the QA assures the software, the software is released to production. Before releasing to production, another round of top-level testing is done. The testing process is an iterative process. Once the bugs are fixed, the testing has to be done repeatedly. Thus the testing process is an unending process.

Software Testing Techniques

Testing techniques can be used to effectively design efficient test cases. These techniques can be grouped into black-box and white-box techniques. Find below some of the techniques:

Black-Box Testing techniques
When creating black-box test cases, the input data used is critical. Three successful techniques for managing the amount of input data required include:
Equivalence Partitioning  : ->
An equivalence class is a subset of data that is representative of a larger class.Equivalence partitioning is a technique for testing equivalence classes rather thanundertaking exhaustive testing of each value of the larger class. For example, aprogram which edits credit limits within a given range (1,000 - 1,500) would have three equivalence classes:<> 1,500 (invalid)

Boundary Analysis :-
A technique that consists of developing test cases and data that focus on the input and output boundaries of a given function. In same credit limit example, boundary analysis would test:Low boundary +/- one (999 and 1,001)On the boundary (1,000 and 1,500)Upper boundary +/- one (1,499 and 1,501)Error GuessingTest cases can be developed based upon the intuition and experience of the tester. For example, in an example where one of the inputs is the date, a tester may try February 29, 2000.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
White-Box Testing techniques
White-box testing assumes that the path of logic in a unit or program is known. White-box testing consists of testing paths, branch by branch, to produce predictable results. The following are white-box testing techniques:

Statement Coverage :- Execute all statements at least once.
Decision Coverage:- Execute each decision direction at least once.
Condition Coverage:- Execute each decision with all possible outcomes at least once.
Decision/Condition Coverage :- Execute all possible combinations of condition outcomes in each decision. Treat all iterations as two-way conditions exercising the loop zero times and one time.

PreFace

Hi All
This is a blog where you can find the Testing related Materials and information,Entertainment and some Tricks.
This includes Manual as well as Automation Testing related information.
